Florida-Argentina Partnership |
B. Dean was the guest of Nicolas Scioli, Executive Coordinator for the Development of Sustainable Environment and Alternative Energy, in Buenos Aires. He met with a number of Argentine entrepreneurs engaged in the production of biofuels. Scioli told Dean and the businessmen that “the intention is to bring our production potential of biofuels to the world and improve our BIO Plan with input from those who have more experience in biofuels.” Dean said that “the Province of Buenos Aires has an excellent potential for production and export of bio-energy and comprehensive initiative to other states because the county found a way to generate alternative energy emerging from the discussion of food or energy, and providing social assistance.”
Gateway Florida is working to ensure that partnerships be put in place between Florida institutions and companies and their Argentine counterparts to build renewable fuel projects that promote economic development while reducing fossil fuel emissions. B. Dean also addressed a Congressional hearing on biofuels in the Argentine Congress at the invitation of Representative Estaban Bulrich and the think-tank “Pensar”. The address focused on the laws and incentives in place in Florida and the United States for renewable sources of energy and how these present opportunities for Florida-Argentine partnerships. B. Dean met with the Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires (population approximately 15 million) Daniel Scioli to discuss the possibility of creating a State to Province partnership between Florida and Buenos Aires in the area of renewable fuels.
