Gov. Charlie Crist announced plans Tuesday for a second summit in Miami to fight global warming.

The 2008 Serve to Preserve Florida Summit on Global Climate Change will focus on developing alternative and renewable sources of energy to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.

Last year's summit, attended by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, led to ambitious initiatives to cut pollution by requiring vehicles sold in Florida to use less gas, power plants to emit less pollution, appliances to operate more efficiently and utilities to obtain more of their power from alternative sources.

The event will take place June 25-26 at the InterContinental Hotel in Miami.
